Online Mastering - An Introduction

Online Mastering is the process of mastering a track remotely. The client chooses a studio offering online mastering and sends the rough mix and requirements to the mastering engineer. After mastering, the engineer uploads the tracks to be reviewed and approved by the client.

The benefits of online mastering is that the project is given a fresh set of ears, able to fine tune it without bias from issues which may have cropped up during the mixing session. As well as a fresh set of ears, the clients have access to a much, much wider choice of studios to perform the mastering process due to not needing to travel.

The average turn around is under a week for single tracks or an average length album. Most recording studios can offer a more personalised service to clients with special requirements.
